Fitness industry in 2020/2021

Having been a qualified personal trainer since 2013, I've been fortunate to see many trends come and go, this past year has flipped all of that on it's head.

In the summer of 2013 I moved to London to continue my fitness journey, locating myself in central London. I am now based in North London working as a fitness manager within a company.

Given the pandemic and the closure of gyms, this past year has seen a big shift in what we used to know as the norm, a year ago the thought of working out at home, for most was the unthinkable, but now it has become the standard procedure. Who needs a gym in 2021?

Many have switched from gyms to online training such as zoom classes, instagram lives, home gyms and even one to one virtual PT, whilst others have taken up subscription based offerings like Les Mills, Peloton and Zwift.

With the recent news that gyms can reopen 'hopefully' on April 12th, I like many others certainly can't wait to be back in the gym, here's hoping restrictions in place won't last for too long and people can return back to their favourite classes / exercises pre covid.

Ultimately gyms will reopen and the new norm will take some getting used to, am I looking forward to returning? most definitely, here's to a better 2021 wishing you all nothing but good health & success in all you try to achieve.
