Two wheels, a carbon frame and a whole lot of graft. That sums up my 2020.

For years I have only been a commuter when it comes to cycling, some could say 150 miles a week isn't your average cycle commute, however for me I just saw it as a convenient way of travelling to and from central London.

Fast forward to 2020 and with the closure of gyms I purchased my first first road bike as a way to keep fit, with this my usual means of commute turned in to very enjoyable hobby.

What started as just just me and a friend going out on rides together, quickly turned in to a group of like minded people.

At the start of May I joined a few of the Strava monthly challenges, with the main one being the 'May cycling distance challenge', could I really travel 1,250km in a month by bike?

You best believe I could, eventually totalling 1,273km for the month with a day to spare, taking in some wonderful parts of London and the countryside in the process.

What started the month was a London football stadium tour ride, ending with a round trip of London to Brighton and a whopping 166km's. If I had to choose a favourite ride of the month that would be it closely followed by London to Southend, although the hardest being London to Cambridge, a very hilly ride.

As the summer days and lockdown came to an end, unfortunately the regularity of the rides weren't as frequent, however as we are now coming in to spring of 2021, you know cycling season is about to begin.

Hopefully 2021 is a better year for us and we can get back to some form of normality along with travel restrictions being eased.

Here's to the year, cycle season is upon us.
